Venerable Dometie, a humble monk of Râmeț Monastery, possessed a heart overflowing with compassion. One harsh winter, a starving beggar, near death, sought refuge at the monastery gates. The gatekeeper, fearing for the monastery's dwindling supplies, turned him away. Dometie, witnessing this, disobeyed orders, bringing the beggar into his own cell. He shared his meager food and warmed him with his own cloak. The next morning, the beggar was gone, and in his place lay three gold coins. Dometie, overwhelmed, confessed his disobedience. The abbot, recognizing the miracle and Dometie's profound love, understood that true obedience lies in acts of mercy.
