Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, in the 4th century, faced Emperor Valens, an Arian, who enforced Arianism. When Valens visited Tomis, Bretanion refused to commune with the Arian bishop accompanying the Emperor. During a procession, Bretanion blocked Valens' path, declaring his unwavering faith in the Nicene Creed. Impressed by his courage, Valens, though initially angered, allowed Bretanion and his flock to continue practicing their faith, a testament to Bretanion's steadfastness.

Let us pray that Bishop Bretanion's courage inspires us to stand firm in our beliefs.
