Martyr Nicander, a Roman soldier, and Marcian, his comrade, were converted to Christianity by Hermolaus in Nicomedia. Moved by Hermolaus's example, they began to visit imprisoned Christians, tending to their needs and burying the dead. Arrested for their faith during a persecution, they refused to renounce Christ, embracing martyrdom after brutal torture.
