After her husband’s death, Theodora, a noblewoman, entered the monastery of Vărzărești. Faced with constant attacks from her brother-in-law, she fled, finding refuge in the Carpathian Mountains near Sihla. For decades, she lived as a hermit, enduring harsh weather and surviving on herbs and berries. Legend says she was fed by birds. Her humility, asceticism, and unwavering faith attracted the attention of many. Even after her death, her relics were said to work miracles.
