Joseph, born into a devout family in 1568 in Macedonia, chose monastic life early, entering the Pantokrator Monastery. His wisdom and piety led to his ordination and appointment as Metropolitan of Timișoara. Renowned for his pastoral care, he rebuilt churches, supported the poor, and preached tirelessly. He fell ill during a plague outbreak while ministering to his flock. Upon his death in 1656, his relics were found incorrupt, emitting a sweet fragrance, marking him a saint.
