St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, was fishing when Jesus called him: "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Andrew left everything to follow Christ, becoming the first-called apostle. He preached the Gospel in Scythia, modern-day Romania, and Ukraine, establishing churches. Tradition says he was crucified in Patras on an X-shaped cross.
