In 1683, as the Ottoman Empire threatened Vienna, Metropolitan Sava Brancovici of Transylvania was imprisoned by the Habsburgs for allegedly conspiring with the Turks. Despite facing false accusations and immense pressure, he refused to renounce his Orthodox faith or betray his people. He endured years of confinement, yet his spirit remained unbroken, his commitment unwavering. His steadfastness inspired countless others to hold firm to their beliefs in the face of adversity.
