Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution during Diocletian's reign for their unwavering Christian faith. Summoned before the governor, they refused to renounce Christ, declaring their allegiance to God. Enduring brutal tortures, including beatings and lacerations, their resolve remained unbroken. When threatened with death, they welcomed it as a path to eternal life. Ultimately, they were drowned at Sirmium around the year 304.
