Elijah Iorest, Metropolitan of Ardeal, faced immense pressure from the communist regime to betray his faith and compromise the Church. He steadfastly refused, enduring interrogations and threats. Once, during a forced "dialogue" with atheists, he spoke with such fiery conviction and divine grace that many attendees were moved to tears, and some secretly returned to the Church.

Let us pray that through his intercessions, we may find the strength to stand firm in our beliefs, even in the face of adversity.
