Tradition holds that Saint Andrew, the First-Called Apostle, preached the Gospel throughout the lands of Scythia and eventually arrived in what is now Romania. He is considered the patron saint of Romania. Legend says that while on his missionary journey, he prophesied the rise of a great Christian nation in this region.
