Born into nobility, Joseph relinquished his wealth to embrace monasticism at Partoș. Renowned for his asceticism and wisdom, he was chosen as Metropolitan of Timișoara. During a plague, he ministered tirelessly to the sick and dying, providing comfort and aid. He died peacefully in 1656, revered for his compassion and dedication to God.
