Hieromartyr Antim the Ivirian, a skilled calligrapher and theologian, revitalized the Romanian Orthodox Church in the 17th century. Kidnapped as a child and brought to Constantinople, his Georgian roots never faded as he mastered languages and printing. As Metropolitan of Wallachia, he championed education, establishing the first Romanian printing press. His sermons moved hearts, his writings defended Orthodoxy, and his leadership strengthened the Church. Tragically, his reforms and outspokenness against Ottoman abuses led to his exile and brutal murder. May his prayers guide us to defend truth and serve God faithfully.
