Venerable John Iacob yearned for solitude and union with God. He left Romania for the Holy Land, where he joined the Romanian Skete of the Forerunner on the Jordan River. Later, he lived in the wilderness near the Monastery of St. George Hozevitou. Known for his asceticism, humility, and deep prayer, he wrote beautiful poems and spiritual reflections. After years of hardship and spiritual struggle, he reposed in peace, and his relics were found to be incorrupt.
