In 1918, as Bessarabia united with Romania, Father Alexandru Nemțeanu passionately advocated for this union, stirring hearts with his sermons. In 1919, Bolsheviks captured him. Mocked and tortured for his faith and patriotism, he was forced to dig his own grave. Before his execution, he prayed fervently, asking for forgiveness for his tormentors. He was shot and buried alive, a martyr for his beliefs.
