Hieromartyr Antim the Ivirian, a Georgian captured and enslaved, rose to become a Metropolitan in Wallachia. Despite his high position, he never forgot his roots, teaching the Romanian people about Christ. He established the first printing press in Wallachia and printed books in multiple languages. His reforms angered some nobles. He was exiled and murdered while traveling.
