During the communist regime in Romania, Father Sophian was imprisoned for his faith and for refusing to compromise his beliefs. While in jail, he was subjected to brutal torture. Despite the horrific conditions, he remained steadfast in his devotion to God. He found ways to secretly pray and encourage his fellow prisoners. He even managed to help others by writing letters to their families. His unwavering faith and acts of kindness in the face of extreme suffering became a beacon of hope and strength for many.
