Calinic of Cernica, born in Bucharest, became a monk at Cernica Monastery, where he later served as abbot. Known for his strict asceticism and deep spirituality, he restored multiple churches and supported education. He translated Greek patristic texts into Romanian. Before his death in 1868, he predicted the exact time of his passing.
