The son of a Roman official, Emilian, secretly embraced Christianity. During a pagan festival, he entered the temple and smashed the idols. Arrested and brought before the authorities, he confessed his act and faith. Despite his father's pleas, Emilian refused to renounce Christ. Condemned, he was burned at the stake in Durostorum (present-day Silistra, Bulgaria) in 362 AD.
