During the reign of Emperor Julian the Apostate, Donat, a bishop, and Venust, suffered for their unwavering faith. When Julian ordered the temple of Artemis to be rebuilt, Donat fearlessly prayed for its destruction. An earthquake struck, demolishing the temple and killing many pagans. Enraged, Julian sent soldiers who arrested Donat and Venust. They were tortured and ultimately beheaded for refusing to renounce Christ.
