In 1760, Martyr Oprea of Săliştea, a humble peasant, staunchly defended his Orthodox faith against forceful conversion to Catholicism. Summoned to Vienna and offered nobility and riches to renounce Orthodoxy, he remained steadfast. Imprisoned and tortured, he refused to deny Christ. Eventually, he was returned to Săliştea and cruelly executed by being crushed between two millstones.
