John the Valah, a Romanian who lived in the 16th century, was a merchant in Constantinople. When offered to convert to Islam, he steadfastly refused, professing his unwavering faith in Christ. Despite torture and imprisonment, he remained resolute. Ultimately, he was martyred for his beliefs, his unwavering faith a testament to his devotion.
Holy Martyr John the Valah, pray to God for us, that we too may be strengthened in our faith and find courage in the face of adversity, always remaining true to the teachings of Christ.
