Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, lived during the reign of Emperor Diocletian. Ordered to renounce their faith, they refused. Maxima bravely declared her unwavering belief in Christ. Enraged, the governor had them tortured. Their bodies were scraped, and wounds were rubbed with vinegar and salt, yet their faith remained unshaken. Finally, they were cast into the sea. Their steadfastness inspired many to embrace Christianity.
