On this day, we remember #Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium. During Emperor Probus's reign, Irineu was arrested for his faith. Brought before the judge, he refused to deny Christ. The judge, initially hesitant due to Irineu's noble status, eventually ordered his beheading after Irineu's steadfast refusal to offer pagan sacrifices. Even given a chance for freedom, he chose martyrdom.
