On this day, we remember John the New of Suceava, a merchant of great faith. In 1330, while in Belgorod, he openly confessed his Christianity to a Tatar leader who demanded he renounce Christ. For his unwavering faith, John was brutally tortured. He was beaten, dragged behind a horse, and finally beheaded. Even in death, his body shone with divine light, converting many who witnessed the miracle.
