Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, refused to offer pagan sacrifice and openly confessed his faith in Christ during Emperor Maximian's persecutions. Brought before the authorities, he remained steadfast despite torture and threats. When asked about his identity, he declared himself a Christian, unwilling to deny God for earthly life. He was beheaded for his unwavering faith.
