Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their faith in Singidunum (Belgrade) during Licinius' reign. Ermil openly confessed his belief in Christ, while Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept as he watched Ermil's torture. Revealing his faith, Stratonic joined Ermil in suffering. After enduring severe torments, they were drowned in the Danube River.
