Venerable Anthony of Iezeru, born into wealth, abandoned his inheritance to embrace monasticism. He retreated to a cave near the Iezeru River, carving a church from stone with his own hands. Living in extreme asceticism, he ate only uncooked plants and wild fruits, devoting himself to unceasing prayer. His sanctity drew others, and a monastic community formed around him. Despite his secluded life, he offered guidance and healing to those in need, becoming a beacon of faith in Wallachia.

Lord, through the prayers of Venerable Anthony, grant us strength to renounce worldly attachments and pursue a life of devotion.
