Venerable Dimitrie the New of Basarabi, a humble shepherd, lived a life of simple piety in the village of Basarabi near the Lom River. He was known for his love of silence and constant prayer. When the barbarians invaded, Dimitrie peacefully reposed and was covered by the waters of the river. Years later, the river revealed his relics, emitting a holy fragrance. When Empress Pelaghia of Constantinople suffered from demonic possession, Dimitrie's relics were brought to her, and upon touching them, she was healed.
Let us pray to #Saint Dimitrie, that through his intercessions, we may find healing and strength in our spiritual battles. May his example of humility and prayer guide us closer to #God. #OrthodoxSaint #Basarabi #Faith
