Born in the 18th century, Ghelasie of Râmeț Monastery, a humble monk, yearned for solitude. He retreated to a mountain cave, spending years in prayer and asceticism. He lived a life of extreme austerity, sustained only by wild herbs and water, battling demons and the elements. Despite his reclusive nature, word of his holiness spread. He was eventually appointed Archbishop of Transylvania, a position he reluctantly accepted, returning to the world to guide his flock. His life is a powerful example of dedication, faith, and embracing suffering. Holy Father Ghelasie, pray to God for us! #OrthodoxSaints #Romania #Asceticism #Prayer #Faith
