Saint Calistrat, born in Gorj, was tonsured a monk at Tismana Monastery, later leading Timișeni Monastery. He was known for his strict ascetic life, prayer, and guidance. During a plague, his prayers saved many. Forced to flee by invading Turks, he established a new hermitage at Vasiova. He reposed there, a beacon of faith and resilience.
