Martyr John, a merchant of Trebizond, was slandered for his faith in Belgorod. Scorned by the unjust judge, he refused to renounce Christ, enduring brutal tortures: flogging with ox-hide whips until his flesh was torn, head beaten, tied to a horse and dragged through the streets. His body, cast out for beasts, was miraculously guarded by a shining light and heavenly host. A pious Jew, seeing this, dared to cover the holy relics. Let us pray to Martyr #JohnTheNew, intercede for us before the throne of #God, that we may remain steadfast in faith amidst trials and tribulations. Glory to #JesusChrist! #OrthodoxSaints #Martyrdom
