Venerable Nicodim of Tismana, a beacon of monastic life, faced a perilous journey. While traveling to Mount Athos, his ship was captured by pirates. They demanded his gold and possessions. Saint Nicodim, with unwavering faith, offered himself instead, declaring his life as his most valuable offering. Impressed by his bravery and piety, the pirates, in a moment of unexpected grace, released him. He continued on to Mount Athos, and upon his return, became a great builder of monasteries in Wallachia. Saint Nicodim, pray for us and for God to bless our endeavors!
