Bishop Irineu of Sirmium, during the Diocletianic persecutions, was brought before the Roman governor. Offered freedom if he'd renounce Christ, Irineu refused. He was subjected to cruel tortures, yet remained steadfast in his faith. Ultimately, he was martyred for the Lord. He is known for his unwavering commitment to Christ, even facing death.
