In 1640, Metropolitan Elijah Iorest was imprisoned by the Transylvanian Prince George Rakoczi I due to his unwavering Orthodox faith. Despite facing torture and threats, he refused to compromise his beliefs and remained steadfast in his support of the Orthodox Church. He was eventually exiled and died in exile, a testament to his dedication. Through his endurance, he became a symbol of courage. Saint Elijah, pray to God for us and for the Church!
