In 1760, Oprea, a simple peasant, refused to convert to Catholicism under pressure from the Austrian authorities. He remained steadfast in his #OrthodoxChristian faith, enduring imprisonment and torture. Despite promises of wealth and threats of death, he declared, "I was born Orthodox, and Orthodox I will die!" He was eventually martyred for his unwavering devotion, becoming a symbol of resistance and faith for Romanians.
