Andrew the First-Called, brother of Peter, heard John the Baptist proclaim Jesus as the Lamb of God. He immediately followed Jesus, becoming the first apostle. Tradition says he preached the Gospel in Scythia (modern-day Romania), laying the foundation for Orthodox Christianity there. He suffered martyrdom in Greece, crucified on an X-shaped cross. His unwavering faith and immediate response to Christ's call make him a powerful example.
