John the New of Suceava, a humble merchant, was martyred for his faith in 14th-century Moldavia. While traveling, he was unjustly accused by a Jew and imprisoned in Cetatea Albă. Tortured and pressured to renounce Christ, he remained steadfast. On the third day, he was brought before the Sultan, who, enraged by John's unwavering confession, ordered his execution. John was tied to a horse's tail and dragged through the city, his body eventually beheaded. His relics, enshrined in Suceava, became a source of miracles.

Holy Martyr John, pray to God for us!
