Theodora lived a life of prayer and repentance in the Carpathian Mountains. After years of marriage and then monastic life with her husband, she sought deeper solitude. With her abbot's blessing, she retreated to a cave near Sihla Monastery. For years, she battled temptations and physical hardships, sustained only by bread and water brought by a raven, following St. John the Baptist’s example.
