Venerable Dimitrie the New of Basarabi, a humble shepherd, lived a life of profound piety in 13th-century Wallachia. He was known for his kindness and miraculous deeds. The story goes that after his death, his incorrupt body was found. When his relics were being transferred, a Turk tried to steal his relics, but he was struck blind. Upon repenting, he was healed.
