During the Communist regime in Romania, Father Ilarion Felea refused to compromise his faith. Arrested in 1959, he endured torture and imprisonment for his unwavering sermons and refusal to denounce Christianity. Despite immense pressure, he continued to minister to fellow prisoners, offering spiritual guidance and comfort. He died in prison in 1961, a martyr for his faith.
