Offered wealth and honor to renounce Orthodoxy, he refused, declaring, "I was born Orthodox, and Orthodox I will die!" Enraged, the authorities tortured him, but Oprea endured, singing hymns. Finally, on a Wednesday, they dragged him to Alba Iulia, where he was mercilessly tortured to death, becoming a beacon of unwavering faith.
