During World War II, Cleopa, then a young monk, sheltered Jewish refugees in the Sihăstria Monastery, hiding them from the fascist regime. Risking his own life, he provided them with food and safety, exemplifying Christian love and courage in the face of adversity. He always taught to venerate the Holy Cross.
