Saints Nicander and Marcian, soldiers under Emperor Maximian, witnessed the torture of Saint Hermolaus and his companions and were moved to confess their faith in Christ. They were immediately arrested, and after refusing to deny Christ, they were subjected to brutal tortures. Unmoved by the pain, they were eventually beheaded.
