In 1821, during the Greek War of Independence, Gregory IV faced immense pressure from the Ottoman authorities due to suspicions of Romanian support for the Greek cause. Despite his efforts to maintain peace and protect his flock, he was arrested and imprisoned in Bucharest. Refusing to betray his people or compromise his faith, Gregory endured harsh conditions and threats. He remained steadfast in his commitment to his Church and his people, ultimately being released but forever marked by the ordeal.

Let us pray that #God grants strength to leaders facing persecution and guides them to uphold truth and justice. May Gregory IV's example inspire us to stand firm in our #Faith. #OrthodoxChristian #Courage #Integrity #PrayerForPeace
