Venerable John the New of Prislop Monastery, a beacon of faith in 15th-century Wallachia, faced a martyr's death for refusing to renounce Christ. He was a merchant who, after being accused of theft, was tortured and beheaded in the city of Cetatea Albă (currently Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine). His relics, miraculously preserved, were later enshrined in the monastery of Prislop, becoming a source of spiritual power and attracting pilgrims seeking his intercession. His unwavering commitment to Christ, even in the face of death, serves as a powerful example of faith and courage. May he pray for us!
