On May 16, 1760, Martyr Oprea of Săliştea, a simple peasant, stood firm in his Orthodox Christian faith. He refused to convert to Catholicism, despite promises of wealth and threats of death by the Austrian authorities in Transylvania. Imprisoned and tortured, Oprea was ultimately hanged in Ardeal, becoming a symbol of resistance against religious oppression and a beacon of unwavering faith.

Holy Martyr Oprea, intercede before Christ our God that we may have the strength to remain true to our faith, no matter the cost.
