In the Roman army, Saint Dassie refused to celebrate the pagan festival of Saturnalia, proclaiming himself a Christian. He rejected the idolatrous celebrations, choosing instead to honor Christ. For his refusal to partake in the pagan rituals and his open profession of faith, he was martyred. Saint Dassie, pray that we may have the strength to always choose Christ over worldly temptations.
