Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, in the 4th century, faced Emperor Valens, an Arian, who enforced his heresy upon the Church. When Valens visited Tomis, he ordered Bretanion to commune with the Arians. Bretanion refused, leading his flock away from the Emperor's presence. Valens threatened exile, but Bretanion stood firm, declaring he would rather go into exile than betray the true faith. Impressed by his resolve, Valens allowed him to keep his see.

Lord, give us the courage of #Bretanion to defend the #Faith. May we always choose truth over worldly acceptance and remain steadfast in Your word. #OrthodoxChristian #Courage #Prayer
