In 1821, during the Wallachian uprising, Gregory IV, Metropolitan of Țara Românească, tried to mediate between the revolutionaries and the Ottoman authorities. Despite his efforts to maintain peace and protect the Romanian population, he was arrested and brutally murdered by the Ottomans for allegedly supporting the revolt. His martyrdom made him a symbol of resistance and sacrifice for his people.
May #God grant us strength through the prayers of Gregory IV to stand firm in our faith. May his sacrifice inspire us to work for peace and justice. Holy #martyr Gregory, pray for us.
