St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, preached the Gospel across many lands, including Scythia and Greece. In Patras, Greece, he healed many through prayer, leading to conversions and angering the local Roman governor, Aegeates. Andrew was sentenced to death by crucifixion. He requested to be crucified on a cross of a different shape than Christ's, feeling unworthy to die in the same manner. He preached to the crowds from the cross until he died.
